How to sort text and remove duplicates

There are times when you have a long list of entries in text, and you need to sort it, or remove duplicates. While specialized software may exist for this task, I have developed a good enough trick.

Select the list in Open Office Writer. Paste it as text into OO Calc. Select the pasted text. Sort the cells (ascending or descending order). If there are duplicates, they can be removed manually. Copy cells. Paste back into OO Writer as unformatted text (not spreadsheet cells).

There may be sorting option in OO Writer, but that is up to you to find out.
